🏨 Middletown to Welcome Its First Hotel

In a significant development for Orange County, Middletown is set to establish its first hotel, marking a milestone in the city's growth and hospitality sector. The new 120-room boutique property, to be located on East Main Street, will feature locally-sourced materials and design elements that celebrate the region's industrial heritage. City officials project the development will create 75 new jobs and generate approximately $2.3 million annually in economic impact. Construction is slated to begin next month with a grand opening targeted for summer 2026.

âšľ Hudson Valley Renegades Dominate Blue Rocks

Baseball fans have reason to celebrate as the Hudson Valley Renegades delivered a commanding 12-1 victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks yesterday at Frawley Stadium. Yankees' No. 3 prospect Ben Hess was simply masterful on the mound, carrying a no-hitter into the seventh inning while recording nine strikeouts over 6.2 innings of work—marking the deepest he has pitched in his professional career. The offensive explosion was led by Omar Martinez, who continued his remarkable power surge with two home runs, bringing his total to four homers in the last three games. The team's bats came alive in the late innings, with five runs in the eighth and two more in the ninth, featuring contributions from Anthony Hall, Brendan Jones, Tomas Frick, and Brenny Escanio.

Now boasting an impressive 20-9 record, the Renegades continue their series against Wilmington tonight with first pitch at 6:35 p.m., offering Hudson Valley residents another opportunity to cheer on our surging local team:

🎨 Barbara Beck Retrospective Opens

Art enthusiasts can look forward to the opening of Barbara Beck's 40-year retrospective at Tannersville Works, celebrating decades of artistic contribution to the region. The exhibition, titled "Catskill Light: Four Decades of Vision," features over 100 works spanning Beck's evolution from early textile designs to her acclaimed landscape paintings that capture the distinctive natural light of the Hudson Valley. The retrospective includes several never-before-exhibited pieces from private collections and will run through September with complementary workshops for emerging artists. An opening reception with the artist is scheduled for Saturday at 4pm.

🌷 Tulip Festival Blooms in Albany

The 77th Tulip Festival in Albany's Washington Park is in full swing, featuring over 140,000 tulips, artisan markets, and live performances, offering a vibrant experience for visitors. This year's festival has expanded to include culinary demonstrations highlighting Dutch cuisine and its influence on Hudson Valley food traditions. Attendance is expected to exceed 80,000 visitors over the weekend, with a special twilight concert series added to showcase regional musicians. Event organizers have implemented new sustainability initiatives, including composting stations and a tulip bulb adoption program to reduce waste after the festival concludes.

đź’¬ Hudson Valley Inspiration

"The Hudson Valley slips in like a silk ribbon on ancient stone, a place where time feels both suspended and deepened. Here, the past whispers through the trees, the present shimmers on the river's surface, and the future is as promising as the morning mist rising from the Catskills."

— Pete Seeger, folk singer, environmental activist, and beloved Hudson Valley resident

đź’– Today's Gratitude

Today, we express our appreciation for the ongoing developments and cultural events that enrich our community, from new hospitality ventures to vibrant festivals and artistic showcases. We're especially grateful for the interconnectedness of our Hudson Valley communities—how a new hotel in Middletown strengthens the entire region, how art in Tannersville inspires creators throughout the Catskills, and how the shared love of our natural landscape unites residents from Peekskill to Hudson.
